An Evening at Bai Yuka Farm: '12 Gala A Huge Success
HOW YOU CAN HELP US
FACULTY & STAFF APPRECIATION:
This committee purchases birthday cards and Border gift cards to be given to all teachers and staff of Saint James School. New teachers receive a gift bag each summer to welcome them to the community at large. Every Christmas, members gather to gift teachers with movie candy and movie tickets. At Prize Day, faculty and staff are recognized for milestone years of service accomplished at SJS. This committee also presents each member of the graduating class with the traditional school key chain featuring the alumni crest with their engraved initials.

AN EVENING AT BAI YUKA FARM A HUGE SUCCESS
Dr. and Mrs. Ted Leslie of Shepherdstown, WV, won the tuition raffle at this year's Parents' Association gala: "An Evening at Bai Yuka Farm," which is the home of Mary Helen and Robert Strauch. The fundraising event drew over 150 guests who were treated to horse-drawn carriage rides to the venue. The evening featured a silent and live auction, plenty of delicious food and conversation that lasted well into the night.

"An Evening At Antietam" Raises Over $30K
The cannon firing was a prelude to the outcome of Friday's "An Evening At Antietam," hosted by the Parents' Association at the Mumma Barn on the grounds of nearby Antietam Battlefield. It was a booming success!

The gala, complete with a beautiful venue and accentuated with beautiful fall weather, drew over 150 people that included faculty, parents, grandparents, friends and guests. Although total dollar figures are incomplete, preliminary numbers show that over $32,000 was raised. The proceeds will be used to purchase new bleachers for the main athletic field and to allow the Parents' Association to continue to enhance the Saint James School experience for students, teachers and staff.

Faculty member Becky Mathews assisted with the cannon firing after her name was randomly drawn among all faculty members by Father Dunnan. After several practice rounds, the Science Department Chair pulled the cord that activated the firing mechanism.

The event featured a silent and live auction with an assortment of donated items. Drinks, food and music were provided all evening. The Saint James Choir performed a medley of songs, including "When The Saint Go Marching In."

Parents' Association Donates $65,000 To School

The Parents' Association donated $65,000 to the School during Prize Day. The money was raised from the Blue Jean Ball in 2009. The funds were used to purchase furniture for the new Biggs Student Center. In the photo, Susan Itell, President of the Parents' Association in 2009-2010, presented the check to Father Dunnan and Senior Prefect Fraser MacPherson on June 5, 2010.
