    Applying to Saint James School is a process that requires both reflection on your unique interests, strengths and desired growth opportunities, and contemplation on how you will use these talents to do something special at Saint James. Admission to Saint James is competitive because what we are seeking is rare. Successful applicants have outstanding character, academic drive and curiosity, and wide-ranging interests in athletics, fine arts, and community service.     FAQs

    Q: How big is our student body?

    A: On average, Saint James has 225 students.

    Q: How many boarding students do we have?

    A: Seventy five percent of our students board at Saint James.

    Q: Is boarding required at Saint James?

    A: No. All of our boarding students do so by choice.

    Q: What does Saint James look for in an applicant?

    A: We seek a variety of qualities in our applicants. In addition to a strong commitment to academics and athletics, Saint James School seeks students who are eager to be involved in our community, who wish to form close, mentoring relationships with faculty, and who are committed to developing their capacity to be leaders for good in the world.

    Q: What is the timeline for submitting an application to Saint James?

    A: Candidates may begin an application at any time. However, in order to be considered for the following fall, information must be relevant to that year. We require the most current transcript available for completion of each applicant's file. For a notification date of March 10, our application deadline is January 31st. We otherwise accept applications on a rolling basis and notifications will be sent as the Admission Committee reviews files.

    Q: How many applications does Saint James receive each year? How many students are accepted?

    A: In the past five years, Saint James has received an average of 230 applications per year. We accept an average of 100 students per year.

    Q: Is a tour part of the application process?

    A: Yes. For all students who are able to visit campus, we ask that you schedule a tour and an in person interview. This will give you a strong sense of our community, and will help us get to know you, and assess your interest in Saint James. Please refer to the Application Process page for more information.

    Q: When will I be notified of your decision?

    A: All applicants who meet the January 31st deadline for submitting an application will be notified by midnight on March 10th.

    Q: What are the average SSAT scores?

    A: Fifty percent of all applicants score between 1883 and 2085 on the SSAT, including an average SSAT of 2013.

    Q: Where are Saint James students from?

    A: Saint James students come from all over the U.S. and the world. Twenty percent of our student body is international. Our students come from a range of countries, including China, Korea, Taiwan, Ghana, Russia, and England.

    Q: Do you conduct Skype interviews?

    A: Yes. For International Applicants and students who are unable to visit campus in person, a member of the Admission Office will conduct an interview over Skype with video capabilities.

    Q: What is the boy to girl ratio?

    A: Our boy to girl ratio is 60:40.

    Q: What is the student to faculty ratio?

    A: Our student to faculty ratio is 7:1.
