Skylar was selected to represent the USA on the U16 girls' basketball team at the United World Games in Klagenfurt, Austria. She and her teammates from all over the United States defeated Serbia to bring home the gold medal. In the playoff rounds, the USA defeated Team Karten from Austria in the semi-finals match and Novi Sad from Serbia in the championship match for the gold medal with the score of 38 to 29.
Skylar was given the opportunity to visit a concentration camp, and to tour Munich, Venice, and Salzburg. She also toured a salt mine in Berchtesgaden, Austria. She was able to experience the official motto of the United World Games: One world - a thousand friends. One of the most exciting experiences was the opening ceremony. "It was truly a phenomenal experience," said Skylar.
Skylar was selected from a national pool of athletes based on athletic ability, leadership skills, and character. She represented the USA and Saint James with great pride, strong leadership, and good sportsmanship throughout the entire trip.
