In 1942, Dr. Vernon Kellet was named the seventh Headmaster of Saint James School. Dr. Kellet was known for his love of the arts and culture. This leader added a Glee Club and music programs. He also pushed for more interscholastic athletics. This same year, Saint James School celebrated its 100th Anniversary.
Despite a second fire in Kemp Hall, the campus continued to grow with the construction of the Jamison Baseball Field, the Norris Memorial Football Field, Onderdonk Hall, and the acquisition of additional property. The Mummers' Society made its formal debut with the production of "Our Town." A mummer is a traditional masked mime or actor in a folk play, or a merry-making actor or performer.
