Coach Wilberton Summarizes the May 7th Girls' LAX IPSL Championship

The Saints came out strong against Saint John's College Prep in the IPSL final. The Saints got out to a 9 - 0 lead and then worked to maintain possession. Maddie Sappenfield '19 earned a ceremonial start and contributed to the first goal scored by Claire Fulton '17. In their final home game, the Sixth Formers set the tone. Claire Fulton and Elizabeth Fahey '17 each had five goals. Meredith Day '17 continued to captain a young defense, gathering a ground ball, forcing a turn over, and intercepting a pass.

The game also showcased some of the younger talent for Saint James, with Gracie Bowers '19 scoring six goals, along with a goal each for Olivia Welty '20 and Caroline Bowers '21. Alexia Tiches '18 continued a streak of strong play, making 12 saves, causing two turn overs, and intercepting two passes.

It was an emotional win and after the game the team celebrated the wonderful careers of the Sixth Formers (Bailey Adams, Meredith Day, Elizabeth Fahey, Claire Fulton, Tiffany Lee, Lauren Russell, and manager extraordinaire, Sean Rhee) with friends and family. The team is looking forward to the final game of the season on Tuesday at Pope John Paul the Great. Go Saints!
