6th Annual Alumni Weekend Art Show
Alumni Weekend is always an artful event thanks to Mr. McDonald and his talented crew of visual arts students. This year, he hosted the 6th Annual Alumni Weekend Art Show, held in Kemp Hall. Hundreds of appreciative alumni, parents, students and faculty enjoyed more than 39 curated works of art by students in Art I, Art II, Art III and Advanced/Portfolio Prep classes. The colorful and inspired paintings, drawings, and multimedia pieces transformed the Kemp Hall student center.
Art show visitors were asked to cast their vote for the best work. In addition, Father Dunnan selected his favorite. Today, the winners were announced during lunch. Please congratulate these winning artists for their lovely works:

2. Headmaster's Choice: Olivia Riser '20 (right)
The works will remain in place in the student center for a bit longer for those who may have missed the weekend show. Look out for more photos of these works in the spring Review magazine.
Poplar Outdoor Exhibit
In addition to the art show, Mr. McDonald commissioned his students to paint poplar leaves depicting significant moments in the School's history. A total of 38 black and white poplar leaf paintings were placed in trees throughout campus, creating an
outdoor gallery and visual history display. The collection paid homage to the School's longest living legacy, the tulip poplar that has stood for centuries in the Senior Circle. Each leaf work and artist was highlighted in a "Poplar Map" walking tour program (available here). Although Mr. McDonald had to take down the installation due to high winds today, we are most grateful to him for conceptualizing this most memorable and pop(u)lar exhibit, particularly as the School prepares to celebrate its 175th Anniversary next fall. Bravo to each student artist who contributed to a spectacular Alumni Weekend!
