Fall is always a busy time for the Office of College Counseling as our office assists sixth formers with their college essays and applications. They also hosted a series of virtual events to provide the SJS community with valuable insights into the college admission process. The four events, which included a college essay webinar, expert panel on the college admission landscape, financial aid information session, and an introduction to liberal arts colleges were hosted by representatives from eight colleges and universities, including The College of William and Mary, Furman University, Colgate University, Rice University, Davidson College, Kenyon College, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Washington and Lee University.
Mr. Harry (Director of College Counseling & Upper School Studies) and Mrs. Lachut (College Counselor) also attended the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) Conference in Seattle, Washington at the end of September. The national conference is one of the best opportunities for counselors to learn about the latest trends, and network with admission officers and colleagues from around the country. While there, they also hosted a reception for SJS alumni living in the Pacific Northwest.
