Led by Sixth Former Benson Riser, the only returning player on the squad, the 2021 Saints Golf Team measured success by a new metric: how much could the team improve between starts with five “rookies” taking the tee in each match?  Considering the Saints lost to Mercersburg by 80 strokes in their first match but only 46 strokes in the final match, the golfers made significant strides between early September and late October!

Benson earned medalist honors in three matches and took All-MAC honors with a top-eight finish in the MAC Tournament at Falls Road to end his Sixth Form year.  Ably seconded by Third Former Danny McElroy, who missed All-MAC honors by one stroke, the Saints fought their way to three wins against St. Maria Goretti on three different courses.  Third Former Jack Bakersmith and Fourth Former Tucker Newman played in every match and gained invaluable experience for 2022. Third Former Brooks Carpenter and Sixth Formers Andrew French, Quint Maynard, and Tres Starkoski rounded out the roster during a season which required the assistance of Mr. Lachut and Mr. Kesten, both of whom traveled with the team when Coach Karl Yergey could not.
