Saints Take the Field During Spring Season

Saint James girls' lacrosseThis spring, our student-athletes were thrilled to get back on the field and the court for interscholastic competition after a year on the sidelines due to the pandemic. While athletics remained an important part of the Saint James experience throughout the year, there was no true way to replicate game experience. In the fall and winter, teams practiced hard and focused on building skills, teamwork, and conditioning.

They were able to put those skills into practice after the MAC athletic directors, including Scott Barr, approved a set of guidelines to safely get student-athletes back into game competition. A shortened schedule was offered for fall and winter sports teams, with games taking place in March and early April for football, boys' soccer, and boys' basketball. The spring sports season kicked off in mid-April with our boys' and girls' lacrosse teams, boys' and girls' tennis teams, and baseball team seeing action. With some of our students remaining virtual, it was not possible to field our full complement of teams.

Our student-athletes had to follow a set of policies, including getting a COVID test during game weeks, but overall easing back into competition was a success. We look forward to the coming school year where we expect to have our athletic program back in full swing. Go Saints!
