A few of The Addams Family crew members provided insight into their roles behind the curtain to make the show a success.
Angie Antoine, Stage Manager
As stage manager, Angie Antione (Fifth Form) played a major role in the success of The Addams Family.
"I was in charge of making sure that everything during the actual performance of the play transitions into its rightful place. I made sure the actors were in place and queued the stagehands in the wings to ready the set for each scene as well as the lighting," she said.
Angie ensured rehearsals ran smoothly by writing an overview of what the cast and crew would be running through. She took detailed notes in her script about the staging and props in each scene.
At the end of each rehearsal she wrote a “rehearsal report” which gave an overview to the entire cast and crew of what they did that day as well as what they would be doing the next day.
Angie said her favorite thing about being a part of the musical was all of the people she got to work with in the cast and crew.
"Working with such kind people made my job a lot easier and so much fun to be around," she said.
Rosy Lin, Lighting Director
Sixth former Rosy Lin has been helping with SJS theater productions as a technician for two years. She did lights for Brigadoon and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and operated sound for A Christmas Carol and last year's winter dance showcase.
As the lighting director for The Addams Family, Rosy's responsibilities focused on designing, recording, and operating the lights.
"Using the Cognito board, I set the color, intensity, and spot of the lights based on the atmosphere of each scene and the positions of the cast," she said. "I also control the houselight and operate blackouts for transitions."
Her favorite part of being involved was witnessing how everyone grew throughout rehearsals to put on a wonderful show.
"The cast, the crew, the booth, and the band dedicated their time and effort, and the result was very rewarding," she said.
Jenny Cheng, Make-Up Artist
As a make-up artist, fifth former Jenny Cheng's talented work was on display each time the Ancestors took the stage. She also helped on the sound crew. The Addams Family was her first time working on a theater production.
"The makeup part I was more familiar with even though it is probably the most amount of makeup I have done for people," she said. "Definitely great practice for me!"
