SJS Receives Beautiful New Chapel Banner

Saint James School Chapel BannerA newly commissioned banner by Davis d'Ambly has been completed and is on display in the Saint James Chapel. The Saint James Chapel Choir carries the banner during their various off-campus singing engagements, displaying it proudly as they represent the school.

Davis d'Ambly has worked in the field of liturgical design for more than 30 years and is one of the best known liturgical artists in the country. His beautiful work on the new banner certainly lives up to that reputation.

Depicted on the banner is Saint James of Jerusalem with a pastoral staff, a classic emblem of a bishop. The school patch also includes the Jerusalem cross and is included inside the shield. The spring is meant to symbolize the Bai Yuka.

"We don't really have any other images of Saint James in the chapel, so when we were discussing the new banner, we thought it important to include him," said Father Samuel Keyes, SJS Chaplain.

The banner is dedicated in memory of Ronnie Miner, late husband of SJS employee Gay Miner.
