Emily Vando '22, Michele Yeung '19, Jack Walker '19, Helen Jackson '22, and Chaltu Watkins '22 spent the day on February 13 volunteering at the Maryland Special Olympics unified state bocce tournament at Hagerstown Community College. Approximately 250 athletes and Unified Partners participated in the event, representing 24 schools. The SJS group quickly picked up the rules of competition and assisted as needed throughout the day. As volunteers, the students played a large part in creating a world where opportunity is not limited by disability.
