Exceptional Service Award

Sabina G. Spicher

Sabina Spicher is the mother of four Saint James alumni: Callan ’10, Carrie ’12, Ethan ’16, and Mark ’19. She currently works as the Director of Strategic Planning for her family business, Spicher’s Appliances, based in Hagerstown, MD. Prior to her work at Spicher’s, Sabina worked as a software engineer at the U.S. Department of Energy and Norden Systems. Sabina holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Shippensburg University and is currently pursuing her MBA there.

Sabina has served Saint James in many ways since her first child enrolled in 2005. She joined the Board of Trustees in 2019 and is now beginning her second three-year term as a board member. In her work with the Parents’ Association, she led the Teacher Appreciation committee for three years, acted as Athletics Liaison for three years, and served two 2-year terms as the Parents’ Association president. She has also served on several school-wide committees:

  • Father Dunnan’s 20th Anniversary celebration (2012)

  • The Make A Difference Capital Campaign (currently)

Sabina was the Head Coach for the Girls Varsity Tennis Team for 11 years and assisted with the Girls
Junior Varsity Tennis team during several seasons.

Mrs. Spicher’s professional career includes work as a software engineer for DOD contractors, specifically on naval radar simulators for Aegis ships. She founded a part-time computer system consulting business which was sold in 1993 following the birth of her first child. In the years to follow, Sabina worked on several local boards and non-profits, including Breast Cancer Awareness of the Cumberland Valley, Girls on the Run in Washington County, and Muddy Mamas of Maryland. Sabina has also served on the Board of the Washington County Community Foundation since 2019.

Sabina has been a loyal, dedicated, and enthusiastic member of the School community for many years –
