May 2, 2019 PARENT NEWSLETTER Greetings from the Dean's Office!
Alumni weekend was a resounding success (thankfully the weather cooperated)! Our athletic teams were successful. There was a great turnout at so many events across campus, all of which led to a lot of smiling faces from alumni, students and parents. Thank you to all who came out.
As I mentioned last week, advisor request and roommate request forms are now a available to the students. They were emailed out earlier this week. Sign-ups for prom and Hershey Park are open as well; those links can be found on Blackbaud and were also emailed out. Students have until tomorrow (Friday) at 3pm to sign-up for either event. Advisor and rooming request will be taken through the end of the year.
As always, please be sure to read on below for more valuable information.

IMPORTANT NOTES From the Director of College Counseling:
AP Examinations will take place from May 6-10 and May 13-17. Students must be present for their AP exams, so please refrain from scheduling any trips, college visits, or other personal travel during this time. Late exams are only ordered if a student is too ill to take the exam on the regularly scheduled date or in unforeseen circumstances. Thank you for your cooperation.
From Athletics:
Don't forget to visit our online store at BJ's Custom Creations to order your Saints gear. There's a variety of items and you can personalize them to any sport you want, even fall and winter if you missed it! Feel free to contact Laurie Douglass if you have any questions.
Spring Team Pictures are out and can be found here:
From the Development Office:
Gifts to the SJS Annual Fund make a significant impact, providing funds for financial aid, the purchase of academic and extracurricular equipment, enrichment and entertainment opportunities for students, and so much more. Not sure if you made a gift this year? Check the donor list. Want to make a gift? Submit the online form. Thank you for your generosity in helping us fulfill our mission of building leaders for good in the world.
From The Parents Association:
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Despite the weather, our student picnic was a "success." It was nice to see the kids enjoying the wonderful food we had on campus, including our own LA family and their amazing gumbo! We could not have done it without the help of all the parents and staff who donated their time and energy. I would try to mention you all, but fear I would leave one person out. You know who you are and thank you! We look forward to next year and hope many more will attend.
Help us end the drive! Only you can help make it happen. We are approaching 70% participation. We need to approach 100%. We simply need you to participate at ANY level. Believe it or not, giving $5 is perfect enough to count. We need the parents to participate at the same level that the entire rest of the community does. Literally, every other group from Trustees, staff, and faculty, all give at 100%. We, the parents, should be setting the example and leading the way, not lagging behind. We should be sending a thank you message to the school by donating to the fund that supports us ALL. Make your gift online.
Please take a minute to visit our volunteer website iVolunteer. We have a few opportunities to get on campus and help before the end of the year. We are ALWAYS in need of help. Our concession's sales support the school in ways such as: the senior leadership experience, senior ornaments, senior gifts, staff Christmas gifts, Next Level board for Alumni to name a few! We truly can't do it without volunteers. We hope to see more new faces this spring. Thank you to our new and old volunteer's willingness to jump in and help. QUICK LINKS Saint James School |
