May 9, 2019 PARENT NEWSLETTER Greetings from the Dean's Office!
Many signs of the end of the school year are starting to appear: AP exams have started, spring sports are finishing, and the weather is getting warmer and warmer. Prom and Senior Skip Day are just around the corner, too.
For prom this year we will be returning to Musket Ridge Golf Course, where we have had many of our recent proms. Mock-tails and pictures will begin at approximately 5:15 at the Senior Circle. Students attending prom will board buses for Musket Ridge at approximately 6:15. As always, I am looking for parent volunteers for Mock-tails. If your student is attending prom and still needs to purchase flowers, they may check-out Gibney's Florist website and specify that the order is for Saint James. Students may also call in their orders with a credit card. I will pick up all the flowers from Gibney's next Friday morning.
As previously discussed, the next few weeks will be a whirlwind between athletics, AP Exams, Prom, fine arts performances, and final exams. Our students will be showcasing just how talented they are at multi-tasking. Please continue to cheer them on, whether from near or far.
Some important dates to keep in mind: May 17 - Prom May 24 - Senior Skip Day (Trip to Massanutten Water Park) May 24 - Spring Dance and Theater Showcase May 28-May 31- Exam Week May 31 - Second Annual Saint James Field Day June 1 - Prize Day & Baccalaureate June 2 - Commencement
If you are the parent of a boarding student who lives nearby, I would recommend that you start coming and collecting items from the dorm that your student may no longer need. The more you get out in the next few weeks, the easier move out will be on June 2.
Lastly, I encourage you to read the end of the year letter from Mr. Batson, which can be found here.
Sincerely,
Steve Lachut WEEKEND ACTIVITIES Duty Captains: Mr. & Mrs. Zawie Notes: Open Weekend

From the Development Office:
Thank you to everyone who made a gift in support of Saint James School for Washington County Gives 2019! Out of 96 nonprofits participating, Saint James School came in second place for the most dollars raised, earning the School an additional $1,000 prize, as well as a $500 prize for the fourth-most total donors. The School will also receive a percentage of matching funds from the campaign's sponsors.
There's still time to make your gift! The 2018-19 Annual Fund runs through June 30. Submit the online form to make your gift online. Not sure if you made a gift this year? Check the donor list.
From The Parents Association:
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! We cannot thank our teachers enough. They are our kids' advisors, coaches, tutors, mentors, dorm parents, and last but not least, their teachers. We appreciate you beyond words and hope you know that throughout the entire year, not just this week.
Thank you to all the parents who have donated to the Annual Fund. The drive is not over and we need everyone's support to be successful. Make your donation online and help us get to 100% parent participation!
Thank you to all the parents throughout the year who have donated their time, energy, and baked goods to make our kids have an amazing school year. We have one more cookie day and sign-ups are online! Let's make this one the best of the year. Please watch ivolunteer for events that we may host this summer. We have a couple incredible opportunities to make money to support our community. This year we have supported the students in many, many ways and we can't do it without concessions support.
