May 15, 2019 PARENT NEWSLETTER Greetings from the Dean's Office!
We have an action-packed weekend ahead. With both prom and the annual pilgrimage to Hershey Park happening, this is a weekend that many of our students have been looking forward to for some time. Festivities kick-off on Friday, when we will operate on a modified Thursday class schedule (classes will end at 12:20) so that the students who are attending prom will be able to get ready. At 5:15, the school community will gather at Kemp Hall and on Senior Circle for Mock-tails and pictures. At approximately 6:00, students attending prom will make their way towards Alumni Hall where charter buses will be waiting to take them to Musket Ridge Golf Course in Middletown for prom. Students should return to campus at approximately 11:15 PM.
On Saturday, the buses for Hershey Park will leave at 10:00 am, students should be back on campus by 11:00 pm. The faculty chaperones will remind students to text or call their rides when they are within a 20-30 minutes of campus.
Our students will be showcasing just how talented they are at multi-tasking. Please continue to cheer them on, whether from near or far.
Some important dates to keep in mind: May 17 - Prom May 24 - Senior Skip Day (Trip to Massanutten Water Park) May 24 - Spring Dance and Theater Showcase May 28-May 31- Exam Week May 31 - Second Annual Saint James Field Day June 1 - Prize Day & Baccalaureate June 2 - Commencement
If you are the parent of a boarding student who lives nearby, I would recommend that if you haven't already done so, please start coming and collecting items from the dorm that your student may no longer need. The more you get out in the next few weeks, the easier move out will be on June 2.
Lastly, I encourage you to read the end of the year letter from Mr. Batson, which can be found here.
Sincerely,
Steve Lachut WEEKEND ACTIVITIES Duty Captains: Mr. Camp, Mrs. James, Mr. McDonald, Mr. Yergey Notes: Open Weekend

From the Development Office:
DID YOU KNOW? Your gift to the Annual Fund helps grow our parent participation rate. When charitable foundations consider a gift to a school, they look at participation rates. Your gifts help bring in outside funding for Saint James School! Help us reach 100% participation by making your gift today.
From The Parents Association:
Our final events for volunteers are online now! Please take a look to see how you can help us end our year on a high note! There is one last cookie day and one last teacher appreciation event to close out the year. This summer, we may have an event in June and/or July, so please keep your eyes open for notices. Please click here to check out these last two events.
Prom is this week and they need a parent or two to help with the mocktails. It is not difficult and a ton of guidance can be given if needed. It can also be a great way for you to bring a little creativity to the evening. It is a great way to see all the kids dressed up, they always look amazing, and a great way to help make the event even more special. Please contact Steve Lachut if you are interested in helping.
The Annual Fund is still underway. Please help us reach our 100% parent participation goal. Thank you to all those parents who donated on the Day of Giving!! Make your donation online QUICK LINKS Saint James School |
