October 18, 2019 PARENT NEWSLETTER Greetings from the Dean's Office!
And we're back...I hope all of our students enjoyed their long weekend, and all of our families and hosts enjoyed the extra time with those students.
On Wednesday night we had our first wellness speaker of the year, which seemed to go well. Timmy Brooks was genuine and relatable which I think allowed his message to really resonate with our students. I was impressed by how attentive are students were; it was the quietest I've ever heard a full auditorium. Timmy delivered a great message about the mistake he made while in high school and he lied and manipulated those close to him in order to keep himself out of trouble. He also spoke to the value of being comfortable with seeking help, and how the help he received allowed him to excel in the classroom and on the field while in college. Again, if you'd like to read more about Timmy, please read this article
Lastly, as October is National Bullying Prevention month this week's article offers some tips speaking with your child about bullying.
Sincerely,
Steve Lachut WEEKEND ACTIVITIES Duty Captains: Mrs. James & Mr. McDonald Notes: Open Weekend
